Taxi directions: Habok-dae Lotteria.  Same side of the street. 1 block away from the stop light. Directly above Dasarang Pizza &Chicken on the 2nd floor. 

Hollywood is an unknown treasure that few have found in Choengju. With most foreigners going to the heavy drinking center, Hollywood is a refreshing cool breeze that we are all looking for. It's a 3,000won taxi fare from the Bus Terminal and 3,000+change taxi fare from the drinking center. Grab a friend or two because it only makes sense to give this bar a try. 

There are the typical small and large group booth-tables that one would expect in any Korean bar but, to everyone's amazement, there is an actual BAR with stools to sit on! Unusual indeed. 

The kind faced owner, who speaks English, always greets you with a smile, a bowl of salted popcorn (yes, I said salted NOT sweet), and a few bits of paper to request songs. I have yet to find a song that he does not have. Try him sometime. He enjoys the challenge. The beer is served quickly and always cold and refreshing for standard price. Trays of 5 mixed cocktails are also sold for 10,000won. The cheapest in town! 

Highlight of this bar: The food. He makes the BEST western style Cheese Burgers you can find in Cheongju at a very reasonable price. They are huge and come with handmade beer-battered onion rings and think golden potato wedges. All for 9,000won. I personally normally share it with my girlfriend because it is a lot of food to eat for one person. The Fish &Chips are without a doubt the best in Cheongju. For all you English, it will be a taste of home you have been missing. Another personal favorite of mine is the Cajun Chicken Salad (if you want to go a little lighter). 

Last, there are 2 full sized pocket pool tables that are FREE to play. If the bar is slow for the moment, invite the owner or his wife to a game of pool. If you do, though, make sure to have your game face on.

I cannot recommend this bar highly enough. Give it a try with a friend or two and see for yourself. You will have found the treasure you were looking for.
